Corriente Veterinary Service puts customer service high on our list of priorities.  We value our relationships with clients and always enjoy learning more about how your animal fits into your life.  Here is some information about our doctors to help you get to know us better.

Gary Johnson, DVM

Dr. Gary Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary science from the University of Minnesota.  He then spent some time breeding, training, and showing World Champion horses and race horses before beginning veterinary school.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota in 1994 and has been practicing in this area ever since.

Dr. Gary is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Whitetails of Wisconsin Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.  He has participated in research on the causes of infertility in the horse.

He enjoys traveling, going to scouting events with his son Brandon, and walking in the woods in his spare time.




















Kari Vogel, DVM


Dr. Kari Vogel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin.  She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2010. Dr. Vogel completed a one year long equine veterinary internship at Wisconsin Equine Clinic and Hospital in Oconomowoc Wisconsin.

Dr. Vogel is interested in equine sports medicine, surgery, reproduction (including mare and stallion management) and preventative medicine.  She is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Vogel enjoys horse back riding,hiking, and walking her two year old Labrador, Mack.

Erica Esser, DVM

Dr. Erica Esser earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and natural resource management from Cornell University.  She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2008.

Dr. Esser is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.  She has published an article on bone loss in human dialysis patients, researched parasites in bighorn sheep, as well as pregnancy in mares.

She enjoys cross-country skiing with her dog Hannah, biking, and cooking.
