Preventive Care

Corriente Veterinary Service believes that routine annual medical exams, vaccinations, deworming, dental exams and floats are imperative to keeping your horse healthy. Preventative medicine is the foundation of our care. To help you achieve this goal in a financially conscious way we offer seasonal discounts to encourage you to provide care for your animal at the time of year that will be most helpful to the animal. Medical Services

Our examinations supplemented with appropriate laboratory tests help us diagnose and treat a large variety of medical conditions such as:

We utilize the latest technology such as endoscopy, digital ultrasonography, Shock Wave therapy, and digital radiography (x-rays).

We are also able to perform in-house complete blood cell counts, cytology, bacterial culture and antibiotic sensitivity tests.

Reproductive Services

We provide full-service reproductive care for your stallion, mare, and foal. We utilize ultrasonographic imaging along with uterine cultures, uterine biopsies, and in-house semen evaluation to aid in the following reproductive areas:

Surgical Services

At Corriente we pride ourselves on our ability to perform a wide-range of surgeries both on the farm and in our specialized surgery suite. We have two Certified Veterinary Technicians on staff who are specially trained in anesthesia and surgical assistance. Our surgery suite includes a hydraulic table and padded walls for the safest possible induction and recovery from anesthesia. Surgeries performed here include:

• Correction of angular limb deformities and club feet

• C- sections

• Tendon splitting

• Wound repair

• Enucleation

• Hernia repair

• Castrations (routine as well as cryptorchid)

• Genitourinary tract procedures

• Dental extractions and corrective surgery

Lameness & Injury Services

At Corriente Veterinary Service we are well equipped to diagnose and treat a large range of lamenesses and injuries. Our lameness services include:

• Joint injections

• Portable digital radiography (X-Ray)

• In-house joint lavage

• Shockwave Therapy

• Ultrasound

• Partnership with local farriers to achieve ideal shoeing/trimming

ALPACAS and LLAMAS

We understand that special care and services are required for our camelids and we are willing and able to provide these. In addition to the medical and surgical services available to our other species we also offer the following for camelids:

• BVD testing

• DNA samples

• Parasite management

• Specialized reproductive care including ultrasound exams and intrauterine therapies
